I started Nordic Walking with Penny about two years ago and I am amazed how it has helped my fitness . Due to High blood pressure, High cholesterol and being over weight I needed an exercise class that would work for me. Not being keen on swimming, impact sports, or the gym Nordic Walking has been a great way for me to get a good cardiovascular workout. It has helped lower my blood pressure and cholesterol to healthy levels.
I have lost 25kilos / 55lbs. Over several months this year I trained for a 100km walk and would not have been able to do it without having done the Nordic Walking sessions with Penny beforehand. Besides the Nordic Walking, I have seen the most beautiful countryside which was right on my doorstep.
Penny makes all the sessions fun but also interesting with her knowledge of the trails and the outdoors. She is very professional and ensures that clients are walking at a level that is appropriate to their fitness needs. The walks are very social and I have met some really lovely friendly people. I look forward to the walks, come rain or shine
In September 2012 I joined the Nordic Walking group in High Woods Country Park run by Penny Parker.
When I first started I was slow and struggling to walk up hills becoming completely out of breath, but I enjoyed Nordic walking and the poles were helping me with my walking and posture, so I kept going every week not giving in whatever the weather.
I kept improving so much that I have now walked 12 miles between Bury and Clare in Suffolk and also The Pedders Way in Norfolk over 4 days (47miles). Next year I hope to walk the North Norfolk coastal path. My journey over the last 14 months has been amazing and I still enjoy Nordic walking every week and my fitness has improved.
